  • Proclamation of 1763

    Was passed to avoid conflict with the natives.
    The colonist were unhappy that they had to move out of native lands.
  • Sugar Act

    Stopped the smuggling of French and dutch sugar and molasses.
    The boycotted English sugar
  • Stamp Act

    Posed taxes a bunch of goods.
    The colonist protested it
  • Quartering Act

    This allowed British soldiers to live in the colonist houses whether the colonist agreed or not
  • Declaratory Act

    It stated that Britain had the power over the colonies and could pass what ever laws they wanted.
    The colonies still got thew stamp act repealed.
  • Townshend Act(s)

    Taxed imported goods.
    The colonist boycotted imported goods.
  • Boston Massacre

    The colonist were rioting to protest the stamp act and as they were trying to loot a store the owner fired a gun killing an 11 year old boy and the riot escalated from there. This caused tensions to rise between the colonies and Britain leading to more riots and protests.
  • The tea act

    Gave the east India company the sole right to import tea.
    This lead to the Boston tea party.
  • Boston tea party

    A group of patriots dressed up like natives boarded a British ship and threw boxes of tea into the harbor. This cause Britain to impose even stricter taxes on Massachusetts
  • The coercive or intolerable acts

    Imports to Massachusetts was only supplies for the British or necessities. Their government was now chose by the king. Trials could be sent to Britain. Quebec's borders were extended and the roman catholic church was now an accepted religion. This all caused more distrust between the British and the colonies and is what got General Washington on board with the revolution.
