    Exposition
    The setting is introduced in the future where the main character Eckels is introduced. A sign that talks about time traveling being used for safari hunting is mentioned which is the main foucs in this story.

    Eckles questions why there are so many instructions and the importance of them. Travis then explains the butterfly effect. The butterfly effect describes how every little detail counts and every action has a consequence.
  • Rising Action

    Eckles sees the time machine and is fascinated by it. He and the man behind the desk dicuss how they are fortunate a certain President won or else they would not have been able to conduct these time travel safari searches. A character named Travis is introduced into the story and he is the Safari Leader. Travis dicusses with Eckle about very important instructions that he must follow or there will be severe conqequences. They start up the machine and travel back in time to the dinosaur age.
  • Climax

    Climax
    Eckles, Travis, and othere safari hunters are in the junlge waiting for their moment to shoot. When the time finally comes, Eckles is aghast at the sight of the Tyrannosaurus Rex . He panics because he realizes he can not shoot down a massive animal like this and decides to go back to the time machine. The dinosaur sees them and starts to move towards them. They shoot down the animal and they go back to the time machine, they see the mud on Eckle's shoe, meaning he stepped off the path.
  • Falling Action

    Falling Action
    Travis becomes furious at Eckles for stepping off the path. He is concerned with how this little detail will change the future. As punishment, Travis makes Eckles take the bullets out of the dinosaurs mouth because bullets do not exsist in tha time period and Travis does not want them affecting anything else in the future. Before they travel back, Travis warns Eckles that if anything changes, Eckles will receive serious punishment.
  • Resolution

    Resolution
    When they go back to their time period, Eckles notices something has changed. It is not in the obvious way, but there is something strangely odd. Then Eckles suddenly notices that the sign, mentioned in the beginning of the story, has the same message, but the letters are re-arranged. He begins to panic and then soon discovers that the President has changed. Eckles knew what was to come next when he heard Travis click his gun. Eckles is then shot and dies.
