    He hands a check for 10 thousand dollars to a man behind the desk.

    Meets Travis an is taken to the time machine
    Eckels meets his travel guide Travis. He is told that he needs to follow their rules or there will be a stiff penalty and possible government action. Travis takes Eckels is taken to the time machine and the men talk about the newly elected president.

  • Men enter time machine

    The men enter the time machine and are transported back in time. They put on oxygen masks and test equipment. Eckels informs us of the other men along with them: Travis, The safari leader; his assistant, Lesperance; and two other men, Bilings an Kramer.

    Travis tells Eckels the rules of time travel
    Travis indicates a metal path that struck off into green wilderness,over streaming swamp, among giant ferns and palms. This is the path they msut stay on at all times. He tells Eckels that he must not go off the path no matter what, because it can affect what happens in the future.

    Travis explain that killing one wrong animal or stepping on and killing one wrong blade of grass could change the future drastically. "Not knowing it, we might kill an important animal, a small bird, a roach, a flower even, thus destroying an importantl ink in a growing species.”

    A dinosaur comes and Eckels is frightened
    Eckels flees from the dinosaur and steps off the path. The rest of the group shot down the dinosaur, killing it.

  • Travis is angry because Eckels stepped off the path

    Since Eckels stepped off the path they don't know if it effected the future or not

  • They go back to the future.

    The sign outside the office had changed. "Tyme Sefari, Inc.Sefaris tu any yeer en the past.Yu naim the animall.Wee taekyuthair.Yu shoot itt."
    Time was changed. A different president was elected.

    Since Eckels stepped on the butterfly the future was drastically changed. Since this happens Travis shoots him with his rival.
