    What happened: War between the North and South of Sudan came near Salva’s school
    Why did it happen: North of Sudan wanted the South to learn Muslim because most of the North was Muslim

    What happened: Salva was walking and he accidentally stepped on Marial's hand, and after that they became friends.
    Why did it happen: Salva stepped on Marial hand, and then they just became friends after that

    What happened: Salva found his Uncle one day, and the next day when Salva woke up, Uncle told him that his friend was dead
    Why did it happen: Uncle found him in the group, and Marial was eaten by a lion

    Where did the event happen: Southern Sudan, Akobo Desert
    What happened: the Group was heading toward a refugee camp and they had stopped to rest, Six men from the Nuer Tribe had come and robbed them and one of them had killed Uncle.
    Why did it happen: The Nuer and the Dinka have been in conflict for many years, and since they don’t like each other that’s probably why.

    What happened: Everyone was getting kicked out of the camp because the camp was closing
    Why did it happen: The camp was closing

    Where did the event happen: Gilo river, Ethiopia, Southern Sudan
    What happened: Everyone was forced to cross the Gilo River and there were crocodiles everywhere and gunshots too
    Why did it happen: Since the camp was closing down, everyone was forced to leave and go somewhere else

    Where did the event happen: Southern Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia
    What happened: Salva made up his mind and walked south to Kenya, and the group of boys just followed him because they didn’t know where to go and by the end of the day, Salva was the group leader.
    Why did it happen: It was the only option for Salva, and the group just followed him

    When did the event happen: 1996
    Where did the event happen: Rochester, New York, Kenya
    What happened: Rumor was that 300,000 boys were going to America, but it was only if you were healthy and an orphan. And Salva had all of those and he was selected to go to America.
    Why did it happen: I think since a lot of the boys were orphans, they decided to send some boys to a family in America.

    Where did the event happen: Rochester, New York Sudan
    What happened: Salva got an email saying that his father was in the hospital, and he wanted to see if he could go see him. He was able to see him and was able to catch up with him.
    Why did it happen: Salva has not seen his father in 19 years, and when he saw that when he was in the hospital, he decided to go until it's too late.

    What happened: Salva had raised water for his people, the Dinka tribe, and since he knows that the Nuer tribe has trouble finding water and both tribes have been in conflict for years, he decided that this year he will raise water for the Nuer.
