The Van Doren Rubber Company is better because manufactures shoes on and sells them directly to the public. The first day 12 customers purchased shoes, which are made in the day and ready in the afternoon. -
New Customers
One of the best and coolest, now known as the authentic, are born. Skaters like the rugged make-up and sticky sole and are seen sporting for the first time. -
Sk8-Hi
The Sk8-Hi known as Style 38 showed the Vans Sidestripe on a silhouette. The Sk8-Hi took skate functionality to the next level above the ankle, where skateboarders used and abused their ankles the most. The Sk8-Hi not only shielded bones from skateboards catapulted at them but also brought a whole new look to the park. -
Gaining Publicity
Vans Classic Slip-Ons gain popularity and recognition when they are worn by Sean Penn in the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. -
Steve Caballero
The Vans Steve Caballero, the first signature skate shoe, is introduced. Vans introduces weather resistant materials to footwear labeled Mountain Edition for the first time. -
A Different Sport
Vans introduces the Vans Snowboard Boot in the fall '93 / winter '94 snow season. This put a whole new spin on things. -
Sponsors
Vans sponsors the Warped Tour for the first time, In 2001 Vans will buy a sponsor in what is now the Vans Warped Tour, the longest running concert series in America. -
House Of Vans
Vans opened up there very first skatepark containing 46,000 square foot of space, Indoor and outdoor. It's located in Los Angeles, California. -
Forbes
Vans gets recognized by Forbes as, "Americas best small companies for 2000." This was a huge step for Vans and really made their year. -
Dogtown and Z-Boys
Vans helps with the production of "Dogtown and Z-Boys," Stacy Peralta's look at the beginnings of skateboarding and the personalities that evolved the sport. The film won some rewards like the Best Director Award. -
Olympic Snowboarding
Danny Kass and Dorian Vidal each win medals at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games. They both win wearing Vans snowboard boots. -
Pleased to Meet You
Vans embarked on there very first international tour. It was called the Pleased to Meet You Tour. It got through 7 countries in Europe and return to the states to go to 30 cities. -
Customs
Vans launched Vans Customs on there website. It lets people design their shoe however they see fit with hundreds of different colors and patterns.
