  • Lincolns first Inaugurated

    The first inauguration of Abraham Lincoln as the 16th President of the United States.
  • First Battle of Bull Run

    In Prince William County, Virginia, just north of the city of Manassas and about 25 miles west-southwest of Washington, D.C. It was the first major battle of the American Civil War.
  • The Battle of Fort Henry

    It was the first important victory for the Union and Brig. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant in the Western Theater.

    The Battle of Shiloh was a battle in the Western Theater of the American Civil War.
  • Battle of Chancellorsville

    The Battle of Chancellorsville was a major battle of the American Civil War, and the principal engagement of the Chancellorsville Campaign.

  • Grant to Commander

    President Lincoln appoints Gen. Grant to command all of the armies of the United States. Gen. William T. Sherman succeeds Grant as commander in the west.
  • Grant messed up

  • Lee surrenders

    Gen. Robert E. Lee surrenders his Confederate Army to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at the village of Appomattox Court House in Virginia.
  • Lincoln is shot

    The Stars and Stripes is ceremoniously raised over Fort Sumter. That night, Lincoln and his wife Mary see the play "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theater. At 10:13 p.m., during the third act of the play, John Wilkes Booth shoots the president in the head. Lincoln dies later.
