    Columbus, and english explorer discovered America with the help of his man and three ships. La Nina, La Pinta, and the Santa Maria. After months in sea he found land and decided to call it America. Him and his man decided to roam the land in search of spices or minerals such as gold.
  • First English Settlement

    First English Settlement
    People started to leave England in search of more individual rights. They settled in America in 1607 in a small place they named Jamestown. They built their own houses and grew their own crops. They did not survive their first winter due to starvation and diseases which caused half of them to die.
  • Plymoth

    Plymoth
    People known as Pilgrims migrated from England to America in search of religious freedom. They settled in a place they named Plymoth. They also built their own houses and grew their own crops but, with the help of the Native Amaricans Indians they had better advantages of surviving their first winter. The Indians taught the Pilgrims how to fish, hunt, and showed them where the fertile soil was.In a way to thank the Native Americans, the Pilgrims prepared a feast known as Thanksgiving.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was fought by the French against the Native American Indians for land. The Native Americans had claimed much of their land starting from the Mississippi River and the French were trying to take over their land. Some of the Americans fought in the war to help the Indians.The Indians would teach the Americans how to fight in their style with hatches and knifes. The war lasted six years and ended in 1760.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a street fight between a "patriot" mob throwing weapons at a squad of British soldiers. The soldiers attacked back and killed three men that night including an African American man named Crispus Attucks who was the first men to die that night. The Boston Massacre was known as the bloodiest massacre.

    The American Revolution started with the battles of Lexington and Concord. It was fought by the American forces against the British army. The first shots of the American Revolution in Lexington and Concord were known as "Shot Heard Round the World".
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence proved that America had declared itself independent from Britain. The Declaration of Indepence had the reasons that stated why they wished to be an independent country. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson who stated that all men are created equally with unalienable rights.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris formally ended the Revolutionary War and recognized the United States as an independent country.Great Britain granted the new nation all of its land from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River and from Canada to Florida.

    The Constitution of the United States was written and ratified by congress in Philadelphia.The Constitution included the Preamble at the beginning and the Bill of Rights at the end. The Constitution was written by modifying the Articles of Confederation and adding more detail into the kind of country they wanted to run.

    The First Presidential election of the U.S was in 1789 where the first president of the U.S was elected, George Washignton. George Washigton had been commander of the American Army for the American Revolution. He was known as a great general of an army and had been voted to be the president of the U.S by his people.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase is a treaty that proved when the U.S purchased from France the Louisiana Territory which was more than 2 million sq km of land extending from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. This purchase caused the U.S to double in size and get closer in completing Manifest Destiny, which was to extend the U.S from east coast to west coast.

    The War of 1812 was fought until 1815 by the United States and Great Britain. The conflict was caused by the British naval harrasment to U.S ships. The British were already at war with France. They seized American ships and took seamen from them.The British also attempted to keep U,S ships from reaching French ports so the French wouldn't receive any help.

    The Missouri Compromise of 1820 stated that when Missouri came in as a slave state to the United States and how Maine came into the United States as a free state. So the comprise solved the issue by stating that any state north of the 36 30' line would be a free state.

    The Compromise of 1850 was made by Henry Clay which helped put a temporary end to dispute over free and slave states. It also determined how the land from the Mexican War would be free or slave areas.
  • Abraham Lincoln

    The sixteenth president was elected in 1861 and that election was the most conflicted in American History due to national crisis where the north and south part of the country were not in agreement with slavery. Abraham Lincoln was in terrible danger to as he traveled to Washington the day of his inauguration.

    The Emancipation Proclamation was a document signed by president Abraham Lincoln in 1863 that stated freeing the slaves in the south also known as the "rebellious states. The Emancipation Proclamation did not free all the slaves but it allowed soldiers to fight for the Union.
  • Gettysburg Address

    Gettysburg Address
    The Gettysburg Address is a famous speech that president Abraham Lincoln gave at a cemetary in Gettysburg after the Battle of Gettysburg which was the turning point of the civil war where the south continued to retreat after losing. The speech was meant for all the soldiers who died in that battlefield while fighting for a country they believed could be united.

    The Civil War ended at the Appomattox Court House when Robert E. Lee, commander of the Confederate Army surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the Union army.

    World War 1 was a conflict that began in central Europe with a war just between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Then after a declaration of war between Russia it eventually became a global war involving 32 nations. Twenty-eight of these nations were known as the Allies and Associated Powers.

    The Great Depression started on the day the stock market crashed and quickly became the path to bankruptcy. The banks also closed due to all the people trying to get all their money from their savings. Many business and industries were harmed too. It was a very harsh time in the U.S where many people were unemployed and had to travel by foot in order to seek for jobs.

    World War II started when Germany attacked Poland and other European countries felt like they had to do something about it. Adolf Hitler and his socialist (Nazi) party came to power in Germany he soon began trying to take control of other nearby countries. During World War II the two opposing military alliances were the Allies and the Axis. The U.S took part in it by defeating Japan which caused them to declare war by the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
  • Civil Rights Act

    Civil Rights Act
    The Civil Rights Act is a piece of legislation in the United States that outlawed major forms of discrimination against blacks and women including racial segregation in schools, workplaces, and facilities that served the general public. It was led by Martin Luther King JR a strong supporter and leader. It ended unequal application of voter registration requirements. The Civil Rights Act is under the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments of the constitution.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    September, 11 2009 was the biggest terrorist attack in history. That morning terrorist hijacked four commercil passenger jet airlines and intentionally crashed two of them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Then they crashed another airliner into the Pentagon in Arlignton,Virginia.The fourth plane crashed into a field near Pennsylnvania after the passengers faught the hijaker. It was considered one of the deadliest days in U.S history.
  • Afghanistan War

    The war started after the attacks on the Commercial Trade Centers and the Pentagon in U.S. The United States launched a military operation that's purpose was to find the group Al-Qaeda that caused the terrorist attacks in the U.S. The goal was also to find their leader which had taken control of the whole terrorist plan. So the U.S invaded Afghanistan in search of their operation.
