    Alicante which commemorates the Battle of Alcoy in 1275 when St George helped defeat the Moorish forces lead by Al Azraq.For the people the fiesta is serious.All year long they prepare for the four day festival in which 28 armies battle. This means a never ending task planning for the next April and preparing costumes. The end of the fiesta is a sad day for the town. On the final day the Christians are defeated then after the appearence of St George they surround the Moors and defeat them.

    1st official Pamplona Running of the Bulls
    This is a spanish holiday that takes place from July 7th til the 14th every year. Every day runners will enter into the race to run a course while being chased by bulls. The runners wear white with red sashes. Each event is started and ended with a rocket. The history of the bullrunning in Pamplona is not clear. There is evidence of the festival from as far back as the 13th century. The actual run stretches from the corral at Santo Domingo where the bulls are kept, to the bull ring.

    As far back as 1805 there were two rival groups making towers in Valls, the capital of the Alt Camp area in the Camp de Tarragona. These two groups, the farmers and the craftsmen formed the basis of today’s Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls and Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls. Although there have been the inevitable times when the tradition has faded somewhat, during the last twenty or so years it has developed into a major contemporary phenomenon, with many groups all over Catalonia competing.

    Every year on the last wednesday of august the people of the small town Bunyol and tourists have a(n) enormous tomato fight. How this first started is unclear and dates back to 1945 when an annual parade of enormous figures with big heads was passing through the streets of Bunyol. Some of the children tried to join in the parade and accidently knocked over one of the men. the man got up and started swinging his arms at everyone around him. In retaliation the children started a tomato fight.

    The fair officially begins on monday at midnight, norrmally two weeks after Semana Santa (holy week), and ends with a fireworks diplay the following sunday, again, at midnight. At noon every day there is a procession called the "Paseo de Caballos" in wich local girls in their full flamenco outfit are pulled through the city in beutiful carriges by horses. In the evening some of the year's best bullfights take place at the Plaza de Toros de Maestranza.
