    The election of 1860 was the presidental election when Abraham Lincoln became president. The fact that he became president triggered the the South's descion to leave the Union.

    A leader of the confederacy, president of the confederate states of America for the entire war. He was trying to increase executive powers during war but the southerners resisted. Some states even held back their resources and men to protect their own states. This almost led to session in the in the Confederacy.

    He was the commanding gerneral of the Confederate Army. He was best known for having control of the army of Northern Virgina. Lee went against his advisers and invaded the Union rather then protect Vicksburg. Which was a big mistake and cost the Confederacy control of the werstern regions.

As a result, McClellan's leadership skills during battles were questioned by Abraham Lincoln , who eventually removed him from command.

    This Proclamation was issued by president Abraham Lincoln. This document freed 3.1 million of the nation's 4 million slaves, and more were being freed as the Union army began to win.

    Replacing McClellan a more aggressive person general Ambrose Burnside attacked Lees army at Fredericksburg, Virgina. 12000 died or were wounded compared to the 5000 confederates that were usually lost. The battle lasted four days. Burnside was trying to build bridges in order to reach Richmond before the Confederate Army. His plan didn't work out which ended up giving the victory to the Confederate Army.

    He is the most known commander of the confederate army after Robert e lee. He was accidentally shot by the confederate army, his own army. His arm had to be amputated. He was a major assistance in the First Battle of Bull run.
