    Abigail Adams- "Remember the Ladies"
    Abigail Adams wrotes to her husband, who worked on the Declaration of Independence, “Remember the Ladies” in return her husband responds that the declaration states that ‘all men are created equal”. This event is included because it was a sign of how men did not respect women. In addition it shows that men did not take women’s rights seriously.

    Women fight against slavery.
    Although, women suffrage and anti-slavery are two different issues the involvement of women began to make men aware of feminine actions. This is included because it was the first time women had come together to fight for rights of people.

    First Women's Right Convemtion held in Seneca Falls, New York
    There was a two day discussion and debate. Sixty-eight women and thirty-two men signed the Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments demanded that women be treated equally and given the same opportunities as men. This event was included because it shows that there were now a steps being taken towards women’s rights.

    The first National Women’s Rights Convention takes place in Worcester, Massachusetts. This event attracted more than 1,000 participants. Theses national conventions were held yearly through 1860. This event was included because it begins the fact that more women are starting to participate in the fight for women’s rights.

    Forming of Associations
    The government passes the 14th amendment that defines a citizen as only male. The fight for women’s rights divides into two associations. Susan B. Anthony forms the National Women’s Suffrage Association (NWSA), and Lucy Stone forms the American Woman Suffrage Association (AWSA) that fights for women and blacks. This shows the forming of women working together so that they can have a say in government.

    This event contributes to history because this is the first state ever in the United States to offer full suffrage rights to women. This is a big step and also leads to other states to offering suffrage rights.

    Susan B. Anthony attempted to vote for Ulysses S. Grant in the presidential election and was arrested afterwards. She also had to pay a bail for $1000 dollars. This is important because it shows the risks women were willing to take to have equal rights.

    The woman suffrage amendment, also known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment, is introduced to Congress. This is of great importance because now all of the women’s hard work is starting to get paid off by it finally being recognized by Congress.

    Belva Lockwood was the first woman to run for president. She ran on the ticket National Equal Rights Party and was the first woman to appear on official voting ballots. This is vital to Women Suffrage because it is the start of women being involved in politics and government.

    In order for it to reach the U.S. Senate floor it has to pass the House of Representatives. This is important because it is closer to being approved; sadly it was turned down two to one.

    The National American Woman Suffrage Association was the conbination of Susan B. Anthony's and Lucy Stone's suffrage associations. It was founded to assure women's right to vote through a federal constitutional amendment . This is important in today’s history because NAWSA spoke out that the nation could no longer deny the right to vote for women, who were supporting the war effort. This would soon lead to convincing the government.

    All of the Western states are granted full suffrage and the middle states are granted partial suffrage. Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida however did not have any suffrage at all. It was important that some states were granted suffrage because this makes government realize that it is unfair to have some states vote and other not.

    The woman suffrage amendment is passed by House of Representatives and the Senate. It is then sent to states for ratification. This is important because now each state has the chance to have suffrage which means that there is more of a chance for voting rights.

    The 19th Amendment to the Constitution is ratified, granting women the right to vote. There were parades held in New York and some other states. This is important because now all women could have a say in the government and help in major decisions.
