    WHAT: The Group of Seven were a group of very talented Canadian landscape painters in the 1920s. WHO: Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A. Y. Jackson, Franz Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J. E. H. MacDonald, and Frederick Varley were all the original painters who started the group. Emily Carr was a close friend with the group.     In 1915, the group was joined by A.Y (Alexander Young), Jackson, and Lawren harris. They very often met at the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto to discuss anything about their art.

    The Death of Tom Thomson
    One of the main artist dies on 1917. Thomson was canoeing in Algonquin Park and appeared to have a blow in the head but no signs of drowning. His death remains a mystery from this day on.

    Police are still trying to find the reason for Tom Thomson's death. Nobody knows why. They think either
    a) Hes been murderd from the back . In other words. surprise attack, b) Thomson comit suicide

  • Officaly the group of seven

    Until 1919 that they began to call themselves the Group of Seven because they couldn’t come up with a name, and so Harris dubbed them the “Group of Seven” and they all agreed
  • Unworthy...?

    Many other artists are fighting and arguing. They dont think that landsape art should not be used because it doesnt look good enough or unworthy enough. The group felt so heartbroken but still belived and had a passion art.

    Frank Johnston left the group in 1921 so A. J. Casson seemed like an appropriate replacement apparently. The reason so is because Franklin Carmichael had been encouraging A.J Casson to scetch and paint for a long time before they replaced him in the group. He seemed good enough to join.

    After Franklin Carmichael had been encouraging A.J Casson to scetch and paint for many years, He was invited to join the group and yes he had accepted! No more Franklin Carmichael- he got replaced.

    The group was so widespread. They had held their first exibition on December 1929. They were so excited. The group had so many paintings on display to show the world!

    After so long, the group of seven ( Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A. Y. Jackson, Franz Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J. E. H. MacDonald, and Frederick Varley) finally got their dream and becoming one of the most famous Landscape Canadian artist !
