    The Homestead Act of 1862
    In 1862 the Homestead Act was passed by congress. If a settler was living on the land for five years and paid a fee, they could aquire 160 acres of land for themselves. More farmers came to the Plains because of this act.
  • Discovery of 1864

    Discovery of 1864
    In the year of 1864 about summertime, the number of miners coming to California during the gold rush started increasing massively.Indians were raiding wagon trains and stealing horses from ranches.
  • Fetterman Massacre

    Fetterman Massacre
    On December 21, 1866 an extremeley bloody, horrifying event occured known as the Fetterman Massacre. Crazy Horse, a Sioux military leader, lured a group of about 80 U.S. troops into a trap where they were ambushed by hundreds of indians and all of them were killed.
  • Battle of Little Bighorn

    Battle of Little Bighorn
    Colonel George Custer, a Lieutenant for the Seventh Calvary, attacked the Native Americans on June 5th,1876. He only had 250 troops with him though. There were, unfortunately for Colonel Custer, there were thousands of Native American indians in the camp that they had attacked. Custer and his entire army of men were overcome by the Sioux and the Cheyenne indians. All of the troops including Colonel George Custer were killed.
