After suffering a second nervous breakdown in 1693 Newton alomost retired from research. His biographers had many theories for it, they said It could have been a chemical poisoning as a result of his alchemical experiments or frustration with his researches etc.

Newton decided to leave Cambridge to take up a government position in London, becoming Warden of the Royal Mint in 1696 and Master in 1699 which made him a very rich man. But, he did not resign his positions at Cambridge until 1701.

In 1705 Queen Anne knighted Newton. That made Isaac Newton the first scientist to receive knighthood from the Queen.

In February 1727 Newton went to London to preside ata meeting of the Royal Society but his health condition made him return to Kensington it was determined he had a kidney stone within a month he became delirious and stayed in that state for a couple of days then on March 31 he died between 1 and 2 in the morning.
