  • Fetterman Massacre

    Fetterman Massacre
    In present day Wyoming a Sioux tribe leader tricked a captain and his 80 U.S. soldiers into a trap. The Sioux indians that trapped the U.S. ambushed them and killed them all.
  • Treaty of Fort Laramie

    Treaty of Fort Laramie
    This treaty brought peace between white americans and the Sioux indian tribe. The americans promised the Sioux indians that they could live in the Black Hills of the Dakota reservation as long as the Sioux promised they wouldn't attack them anymore.
  • 1874 Discovery

    1874 Discovery
    Rumors were spread that gold was found in the Black Hills of the Dakotas. The Army was sent on an expedition and confirmed there was gold there and many prospectors entered the area.
  • Battle of Little Bighorn

    Battle of Little Bighorn
    In present day Montana the Sioux and Cheyenne tribes were camping near a river called Little Bighorn and the U.S. attacked them at the camp. The Sioux and Cheyenne outnumberd the U.S. forces and all the Americans and their leader George Custer were killed.

    Ghost Dance
    Ghost Dance was a ritual for the Sioux to get their greatness back. The ritual expressed their destroyed culture and the honor to the people that passed away in their tribe. Their leader Sitting Bull was killed in a scuffle when Americans tried to arrest him.
  • Wounded Knee

    Wounded Knee
    In present day South Dakota, the Lakota Sioux's leader Sitting Bull was killed in an earlier battle, the tribe gathered at a creek called Wounded Knee and the next morning a battle broke out when Americans arrived to take the Sioux indians weapons. The Americans ended up winning the battle.
