    In 1790, the first US census figured out that there were less than 4 million people that lived in the orignal 13 states.

    Overcrowding.
    Around the later 1800's, There was a problem in urban areas with overcrowding in the population. Because there was a lot of overcrowding there was a lot of disease, crimes, noise, fires, and factory smoke that plagued the city.
  • Immigration

    Since 1820 there has been immigrants coming from all different places. There has been 60 million immigrants. The immigrants that came decendents made up most of the population.
  • Birthrate rises

    In 1830 the amount of people tripled. It was almost to 13 million people. It tripled because the birthrate was really high. Each family had around 5 or more children. Lots of people lived on farms then and the kids would help out with the farming. Because the familys had so many kids that made the population rise.
  • Jobs/ Womens rights.

    In 1950 there werent very many womens rights. If a women wanted to have a job that was police officer, a construction worker, bank presidant, or a piolot women couldnt do that only men could. Now women and men can do that though.
