    Walter Hunt invented the safety pin April 10, 1849. The safety pin was invented while Walter Hunt was twisting a piece of wire, trying to think of something that would help him pay off a fifteen dollar debt. He later sold his patent rights to the safety pin for four hundred dollars to the man that he owed the money to. On April 10, 1849, Walter Hunt was granted US patent #6,281 for his safety pin.

The Napoleon Cannon was effective at long-range, medium-range, and close-range making it a great overall weapon for the artillery.

    Hamilton Smith invented he Rotary Washing Machine in 1858. The washing machine worked with a crank that would spin a large paddle and would push the clothes around in the water. Years after his washing machine was patented, the first electrical washing wachine was bulit. Hamitons inventoin took a lot of a hard work took him 6 years to finally succede in his helpful invention.

    In 1860. Tyler B. Henry invented the Henry repeating rifle prior to the civil war. The metallic case of the cartridge could effectively seal the breech of the gun to contain the hot propellent gases. This way, the firing pin would strike the rim without hitting it. The 44 Henry cartridge was comparable in power with some military pistols. The rife was popular in the civil war by the Union. It was not very popular in the army though. Overall, it was a great gun that was adapted a lot overtime.

    Dr. William Morton was a boston dentist who invented anesthesia in 1846. He wanted to make a device that would let the patients feel no pain when he was doing dental extractions. his first patient was Gilbert Abott. He was in fo a jaw tumor which had to be reamoved. It only took several minutes until he was asleep.
