    Columbus "discovers" Americaa...
    On October 12, 1492, Cristopher Columbus's boat reached San Salvador inthe Carribean at about 2 am. However, nobody knew that this was America; the believed it was Asia. This discovery lead other Europeans to start sending their people to North and South America.
  • Jamestown Colony created

    Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in America. It was founded by the Virginia company of London. It was originally called James Towne or Jamestowne, and was named after King James the 1st of England.

    Plymouth colony was founded by the group of English settlers we were told about in Kidnergarten; the Pilgrims. It served as the capital colony of Massachusetts. However, the colony only lasted from 1620 to 1691, which was quite a short timespan.
  • •Massachusetts Bay Colony created

    The Massachusetts Bay colony was established in 1629 by John White. It had taken many years for this colony to take off, and it eventually was disestablished in 1692.

    New Amsterdam was founded by a Dutch governor named Peter Stuyvesant. However, he surrendered it to the English, and others many times, until it was finally surrendered to the English in 1674. It was then renamed New York in honor of the Duke of York.

    William Penn Makes Pennsylvania
    Penn had originally called his land New Wales, and then Sylvania, but King charles had renamed it Pennsylvania in honor of William. The colony granted religious freedom and trial by jury.
  • George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne

    Fort Duquesne was founded originally by a goup of Virginians, but was taken over by the French in April. That being because Washington and his men didn't make it to the fort on time to keep that from happening.

    The Albany Congress meets

    During this time, twenty-three delegates meet in Albany, New York, to try and resolve conflicts that the colonies had over the Ohio Valley. Those holding the confrence were from the English Board of Trade.
  • The French & Indian War concludes

    The French and Indian war lasted for nine years, and was fought between a whole bunch of different colonies. The british and the Indians became allies, and that costed the British.
