    Cicones and their army

    Cicones and their army
    Odysseus and his crew land near Ismarus, the Cicone city. The Cicones dont really like Odysseus (aparently the whole Helena thing kinda ticks them off) so then Odysseus and his crew raid the Cicones, the Cicones attack and kill 72 of Odysseus's men.

    Lotus eaters
    10 days later, Odysseus lands on the coastline of the Lotus Eaters, his men are tired and wish to take water, but take water, and the lotus eaters offer tham lotus (a flower) once the few who eat them do, they become tired, and dont wish to return home, so Odysseus has to haul them back to the boats.

    Odysseus lands on the land of the cyclopes, his men wander around spending days feasting. on the third day they entered the cyclopes cave, where they are trapped and held captive, Odysseuse's men are eaten but Odysseus in his cunning puts out the eye of the great beast, and then the sneak out under the belly of its sheep.

    Odysseus and his men land on the island of Aeolus, who gives him good winds, and captures the bad winds in a bag, A month later, Odysseus men release the bad wind, and these send the ships back to Aeoluses Island, who refuses to give him more winds, Odysseus is on his own

    Odysseus and his men land on the island of Circe, Circe turns his men to pigs and luckly Odysseus had taken moly from Hermes, so he is protected against Circes spell. Odysseus stays with her for a year, but then when he begs to go home Circe says he must visit the underworld, and speak to the ghost of Tiresias

    After Odysseus returns to Circes island, and hears her advice, he and his men set off, they must cross by the island of the Sirens and he ties himself to the mast so that he may listen to their song, but the rest of his men block their ears so that they are not threatened.

    Odysseus continues home, and he must go between the island of Syclla and Charybdis, on the one hand there is Charybdis who would kill all of his men, or there is Syclla, whos 6 headed beast will only kill 6, he decides to go closer to Syclla, and 6 men are eaten

    Calypso is stranded on the island of Calypso, Zeus eventually listens to Athena, and sends Hermes to tell Calypso to let Odysseus go, she eventually complies, Odysseus is given supplies and helped in creating a raft, after 20 days he lands on the island of Aranous, to whom he tells tales of his travels, Aranous helps Odysseus travel home

    Odysseus arrives home, with Athenas help he disguises himself as a beggar, and participates in the bow trials that have taken place amongst the suitors to try and discover who will marry penelope, he wins these bow trials, and with the aid of his son, whom he has found again, he slaughters the suitors. he then dines with Penelope, and finally proves himself that he is indeed Odysseus
