They went to the land of the Lotus Eaters and the men didnt want to go home so they were tied to the boat so they wouldnt stay on the island.

odysseus and his men travel the island of aeolus who gives odysseus and his men a fair west wind towards ithaca and a bag of all the unfavorable winds and tells him not to open it, but while asleep odysseus' men think theirs riches in the bag and open it and get blown all the way back the island and aeolus refuses to help them again.

when odysseus and the men get close to ithaca the men open the bag of bad winds and get blown back the island of Aeolus. and he refuses to help them again.

when odyssues and his men come in contact with the laestrygones the fierce canniblas who bombard the fleet of ships with boulders when Odysseus and his men got to their land. Odysseus and his 45 men and his ship survive. They end up on their way to Aeaea the home of the witch Circe.

odysseus and his men end up on Circe's island and decide to split up so Eurylochus and a handful of men go to explore and they come to a house with wild animals in front of it and their scared but then they hear Circe singing and she invites them in for drinks and then she turns them into pigs and puts them in a pen. Eurylochus goes and tells odysseus and he goes to save them and they end up spending a year their until odysseus begs her to let them go.

after begging Circe to let him and his men go Odysseus was told to go to the land of the dead. while there he spoke to Elpenor, Tiresias, his mother, and many more people he had known. Tiresias told Odysseus prophesied what would take place on his journey home to ithaca.

When odysseus got back to aeaea Circe she told him about the Sirens that lay in his path and what he should do to safely make it past.

When Odysseus and his men reached the Sirens he put beeswax in their ears and had them tie him to mast to prevent them from falling into their curse and so he could here the sounds of the sirens. Then Circe warned them about Scylla who had six heads and If they stayed on the coast by Scylla they would only lose six men and if they went by Charybolis they would all die in her whirlpool.

when the men came in contact with helios the god of sun odysseus told his men not to eat his cattle but they did anyway and they died then Zeus sent a lightning bolt down and destroyed his ship but didnt kill odysseus and he drifted to the island where the nymph calypso lived.

for seven years of the ten years odysseus was at sea he spent on an island with calypso until hermes the wayfinder sent by Zeus came with a message to release him. She only gave him a raft and told him to sail for 20 days until he landed on the island of Scheria to get more help on him return home.
