    General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo was the longest lasting military government leader. He was in charge from 1927 to 1931. His type of leadership was known as a de facto dictatorship. But the dictatorship was not near as harsh as other Latin American countries.

    Was a time when a military coup overtook Salvador Allende, (who was a senator of the socialist party of Chile.) which happened on the 11th of September 1973. Bombing took place and later Allende committed suicide. This era lasted from 1973 to 1990.

    The two countries have been fighting over the northern part of Chile. This later came known as the War of the Pacific.Also Chile had many mineral resources in the part. Peru began thinking it belong to them but it did not. So later on Peru took Chile to court over the maritime disputes. As a result Chile lost 80 miles of northwestern ocean zone.

    This quake had a magnitude of a 8.8 on a moment magnitude scale. The shaking from the quake lasted for three whole minutes. Also 80% of Chile's population felt the quake.After the quake was over it triggered a tsunami. This tsunami was huge. It went all the way up to California and Japan.
