This battle took place in sand creek, colorado. This event took place on nov. 29, 1864.The tribes held up a peace flag but the army didnt care. they attacked and killed 150 people.The amry was then welcomed back as heros for what they did.There wasnt any honor in this.

fetterman massacre

the sioux, cheyenne and the arapaho warriors were having little battles with the army for two years, but on december 21, 1866 it was the worst battle.Crazy horse lead the army into a trap luring the forts commander to detach 80 soldiers in pusuit. the indians won killded these soliers

treatie of fort laramie

This event took place in the black hills of south dakota.It happened in the spring of 1868. it was a treaty between the u.s. goverment and the sioux, saying that that black hills was a resorvation for the sioux tribe.No white man was allowed on it.This treaty didnt stay in effect too long.

battle of little bighorn

This event took place from the black hills of the dakotas to the little bighorn river in montana.This event happened on june 25, 1876.It was a conflict between the sioux tribe and the army over gold.No white man was allowed on the sioux land but Custer went and attacked but the sioux were ready and defeated custer.The rest of the army drove the sioux up to canada then which the sioux gave in and would live on the reservation.This showed that the u.s couldnt keep their word.

Officials were upset and thought sitting bull was ahead of it.They went to arrest sitting bull but ended up shooting him and he died.This event lead to the battle of wounded knee.The u.s wernt giving the sioux the freedom they deserved.

It is significant because this battle didnt have to happen, a shot rang out so people got scared a fired.
