occured when te government tried to buy land from sitting bull but sitting bull refused. the sioux joined forces with crazy horses tribe and fought against gen custers troops. gen custer underestimated force of the indians and led most of his troops to death. this was a terible mistake on his part.

the gost dance scared the reservation officials so they went to arest sitting bull be cause they beleived he had started a rebelion.. in the incident he was shot. after sitting bull was killed the sioux tribe fled to the creek of wounded knee. the millitary moved in to collect the indians weapons. a shot rang out and fighting began, ending with 200 dead indians and 25 dead soilders.
