Why is it illegal for Nonconformists to worship publicly? Way back when, people had highly restricted laws and were only allowed to do certain things. Nonconformists were people who disobeyed or refused to obey established customs, attitudes, or ideas. Therefore, since the nonconformists did not abide by the government at the time, they were given their own set of laws they had to obey no matter what. And one of those laws was that they could not worship in public. -
