The Pact of San Sebastian
The Pact of San Sebastian was a meeting in which spanish socialists and people which were against the figure of the king, republicans, voted in a democracy and decided remove the kings figure so the actual king Alfonso XIII would be removed and the second spanish republic established. -
Municipal elections
The municipal elections were a elections which the General Juan Bautista organized after Primo de Rivera's coup d'etat, this were organized to keep the monarchy in the head of the power, but in the other side the republicans gain as well a lot of confiance to continue. -
Proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic
The second spanish republic was proclaimed on April 4th 1931 after the King Alfonso XIII was removed fom the monarchy after the municipal electios, in which the repblicans strarted wining. The Revolutionary Comittee, named as that in when there was a monarchy, was renamed the Provisional Republican Goverment during the second spanish republic. -
New Republican Constitution
This new constitution is named Republican Constitution in 1931 after the democratic votations in which the republicans won and removed the king's figure, in the proclamation of the secon spansh republic.This Constitution was based in a democacy and progresive thinkings leadered by PSOE and PRR parties. -
Reformist biennium
This first biennium started after the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic in 1931 and finished in 1933 in the general elections which btought the black biennium. In this biennium some reforms were taken, as well the General Sanjurjo organized a coup d'etat which failed and was sent to prision. -
Black biennium
The black biennium started in the elections of 1933 in which the women was alllowed to vote. In this period al the left wing parties divided because the power in the spanish republic was passing through the left parties so everyone wanted to have de power. After all the left wing parties consisting of nationalists, anarchists and communist organized an strike, called the Revolution of October. -
The Popular Front
The popular front was a union made in 1936 in which the left wing parties formed the popular front which won the elections of the Second Spanish Republic and caused a lot of confrontations that would trigger the spanish civil war in February 16th 1936. -
Start of the civil war 1936
After the elections in which the popular front won there were a lot of revolts from one party to the oposite going through extreme violence. There were two sides in this war; the republican side which of course was supported by the goverment, they went against the monarchy and wanted to keep the republic, in the other side there was the supported by the military leadrs and made up by the natinalists who supported the monarchy, after leaded by Franco.
