    Also known as the ADA. This pact prohibits discrimination against any person with a disability in the United States. It includes areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public.

    Confirmation of Clarence Thomas to the US Supreme Court
    Thomas confirmed to the Supreme Court. After a bitter confirmation hearing, the U.S. Senate votes 52 to 48 to confirm Clarence Thomas to the U.S. Supreme Court. Thurgood Marshall, the first African American to sit on the Supreme Court, announced his retirement after 34 years.
  • Hurricane Andrew

    Hurricane Andrew was a destructive Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that struck the Bahamas, Florida, and Louisiana in mid-to-late August 1992. It was the most destructive hurricane to ever hit Florida until Hurricane Irma surpassed it 25 years later. 65 victims died in the storm and left cities more devastated than ever.

    The Battle of Mogadishu, or Day of the Rangers, was part of Operation Gothic Serpent. It was fought in Mogadishu, Somalia, between forces of the United States—supported by UNOSOM II—and Somali militiamen loyal to the self-proclaimed president-to-be Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The battle is also referred to as the First Battle of Mogadishu, to distinguish it amongst the nine major Battles of Mogadishu during the decades-long Somali Civil War.

    The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia was the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's military operation against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War. The air strikes lasted from March 24, 1999 to June 10, 1999.

    This is important to bring up especially considering our day off on Wednesday. The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting that occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado, United States. The perpetrators, twelfth grade students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered 12 students and one teacher. After killing 13 people the shooters shot themselves as well.
