    The Americans With Disabilities Act
    The ADA was passed by congress in July of 1990. This act was created to "give civil rights protections to individuals with disablilties that are like those provided to indiviuals on the basis of race,sex, national orgin, and religion." Presidnet Bush signed this act into law.
  • Confirmation of Clarence Thomas to the US Supreme Court

    Confirmation of Clarence Thomas to the US Supreme Court
    Clarence Thomas was nominated by President George H.W. Bush to replace Thurgood Marshall who was planning to retire. After some negotiating Clarence was accepted and became an Associate of the Supreme Court of the United States. Originally Thurgood Marshall had been the only African American justice on the court.

    Entrance of US Soldiers in Somalia / Blackhawk Down
    US soldiers went into Somalia initially to help but soon violence occurred and US soldiers started to lose their lives. They were met with violence by people there. The U.S. was making attempts to setting up relief operations as well to help with starvation. When this mission was handed over to the United Nations it was put to the side making the people of Somalia very angry.

    This agreement was signed into law by President Clinton. The pupose of the agreement was to remove barriers so that countires coudl freely trade wiht one another. This would in turn help the countires that are involved by opening up the market.
  • Verdict in the O.J. Simpson Trial

    Verdict in the O.J. Simpson Trial
    June 12,1994 Nicole Brown Simpson and a friend of hers named Ronald Goldman were found dead. Originally O.J. Simpson was charged with their murders and was brought to court. O.J. after being in court for 252 days he was acquitted of their murders which caused a huge controversy.

    On October 6,1995 a political demonstration was held in Washington D.C. More than a million Black men showed up that were led by Minister Louis Farrakhan. The purpose of this demonstration was to "promote African American values" and to "declare their right to justice."
  • Olympic Park Bombing

    Olympic Park Bombing
    July 27,1996 in Atlanta, Georgia the Centennial Olympic Park was bombed by Richard Jewell who was a security guard. He was later cleared because of the lack of evidence to support the case .The bombing occurred during a concert that was being held it ended up killing 2 people and injuring 100’s. The FBI suspected that the bombing was done by American right-wing extremist groups with grudges against the U.S. federal government.

    Murder of Matthew Shepard
    October 6,1998 two men in Laramie, Wyoming promised Matthew Shepard a ride home from a bar. Matthew.s body was found in the moring by a cyclist tied to a fence. He was beaten,burned, and comatose with a fractured skull. They did this because he was gay.

    Beginning of NATO bombing in Yugoslavia
    The bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO was the idea of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's military . This took place during the Kosovo War. NATO attacked Serbia due to a misunderstanding but was later resolved, The attacks lasted from March 24,1999 to June 10,1999.

    April 20,1999 two teens named Eric Harris,18 and Dylan Klebold, 17 went into Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado and ended up killing 13 people and injuring 20 other people. After they killed these people they took their own lives as well. This horrific event made the United States look very closely at gun control and how to improve it.
