    The US invade Panama in an Attack against the Drug Trade

    President Bush sent US troops to Panama for the purpose of taking their leader Manuel Noriega from power. Bush wanted to take him from power so he could make a stop to the drug trade negatively affecting the US. The US also did this invasion to make sure that the transfer of the Panama Canal to the Panamanian government was stable. This invasion of Panama did cause controversy in Latin America for the US.

    Trial of Rodney King and People of L.A. Getting Very Mad

    Four Los Angeles Police officers beat an unarmed black man named Rodney King and were caught on video. They were brought to trial but were acquitted of any crimes. The significance was that this led to an outrage in Los Angeles which began the L.A. riots. These were very violent riots where protesters were beating motorists, looting stores, and blocking the freeways. These riots represented the outrage caused by a racist beating of a black man with no punishment.

    The Passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement was a trade agreement signed by North America, Canada, and Mexico. The main significance of this agreement was it gradually got rid of a majority of trade barriers and tariffs between the countries. This was done in order to promote trade and commerce between the countries but there were some against this agreement. Certain Americans believed that because of this they may lose their jobs to cheap Mexican labor.

    This was a scandal when the professional figure skater in the US, Kerrigan is attacked by Smith and it was planned by another professional figure skater's ex-husband Gillooly. This led to scandal because many believed Harding planned this so she could be in the 1994 Olympics. This sparked an FBI investigation where Smith confessed to the attack. Harding was later charged for knowing of the attackers but not telling authorities. She never admitted to planning the attack.

    This was a flight that took off from JFK airport in New York City going to Paris exploded in mid-air killing every single one of the 230 passengers. The significance was that this led to a very large investigation from the NTSB. This investigation was very costly and lasted four years costing over 40 million dollars. The main effect of this investigation was that it led to safety recommendations that would change the course of aviation.

    This was a bombing at a park in Atlanta Georgia US by Eric Rudolph during a free concert. The bomb was a pipe and it killed a mother and injured over 100 other people and some of the injuries were led to death. This bomb was one of four bombs set off by Rudolph who also managed to evade authorities for seven years. The FBI eventually caught Rudolph and got him to admit to plead guilty after the 7 year manhunt.

    This mass suicide took place in a mansion in Rancho Santa Fe of San Diego California. A total of 39 people of all different ages took their lives on this day, 18 of them being men and 21 were women. Marshall Applewhite led this cult and he led all of the members to believe there was an alien spaceship waiting for them on the other side of the Hale-Bopp comet. Everyone in this cult abandoned everything to join by leaving their families and than taking their own lives for the cult.

    This is when the United States led NATO to send air strikes against Yugoslavia. The purpose of these airstrikes was to destroy Serbian military positions in Yugoslavia. The main significance was that Bill Clinton stated that destroying these military positions would help stop urban cleansing in the area. This NATO bombing in Yugoslavia was the second major military operation organized by the alliance.

    This was a horrible massacre where two high school students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold murdered 12 of their fellow students and one teacher. This massacre was the worst high school shooting in the United States at the time. The main significance was that it led to a very large national debate on school safety as well as gun control. The high school was Columbine highs chool located in Littleton Colorado in the United States.

    The Y2K Scare was a computer scare leading to the 2000s where programmers realized computers and other technology. would not be able to display the year 2000. The reason computers would not be able to display this year is because a majority displayed years in two-digit integers so only the last two numbers would change. This scare was mainly in the United States. This problem was solved mainly through a quick fix called "windowing" which would help stop the technology from shutting down.
