Malcom X
Malcom X is shot Fifteen times in close range by three white men. Once he got to the hospital, he was already dead. He was at a speaking engagement at Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom. 1,500 people attend his funeral on the 27th. Some of his friends burried him themselfs. -
First space walk
Cosmonaut Aleksei Leonov preforms the first space walk. This again puts Communist Russia ahead of the US in the Space Race. -

"The Sound of Music," Staring Julie Andrews, is about a family in Austria in the 1930's, who dislike the Nazis. Maria, the maid, falls in love with George. Geroge gets drafted into the German Army and he trys to keep away. When the Nazis come surching for them, the escape and go to Switzerland. -

The Boston Celtics beat the LA Lakers in the NBA Tournament Finals. -

Black's Riot
Riot goes on for six days. It happens in the watts section of Los Angeles. There were 34 dead, 1,000 injured, and nearly 4,000 arrested at that riot. -
The miniskirt comes out
This was a cultural change an a fashion change. It was a political protest and they now wore different clothing from their parents. It made them follow their own rules and not their parents.
