The NSC-68 was a group effort by the CIA, the State Department, and other agencies to tell President Truman the policy's for the Cold War. The report recommended that the United States were to expand on their military to insure American hospitality.

After the construction of the Atomic Bomb in the 1940's the United States moved testing off from the mainland and to remote islands in the Pacific. January 27, 1951, the United States decided to move testing back to a remote desert and mountainous area on the mainland which just so happened to be about 65 miles away from the Worldly famous Las Vegas, Nevada. Since then, there has been a total of 928 Nuclear tests recorded there.

The Summer Olympics had nearly 70 countries and 5,000 participants. The United States ended up taking the cake with an astounding 76 which beat out Russia by five medals. This also saw Equestrian (horse riding) events allow Women to compete with the Men.

Ellis Island which was originally intended to be a detention center for suspected immigrants entering the United States was shut down allowing Immigrants to freely enter the country. More than 12 million Immigrants were proccessed here.

Rock'n Roll legend Elvis Presley released his first every album named Heart Break Hotel. It topped the pop billboard in the number one spot for the following two months. Later that month he also had his first tTV appearance on Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey's "stage show", which was a popular show in the late 50's.

The Transcontinental Speed Record was broken by Test Pilot and future Astronaut John Glenn Jr. He was piloting an F8U Crusader from Los Angelas to New York City. It took a merely 3 hours and 28 minutes to complete.

The United States launched their first ever recorded rocket named Explorer 1, what a creative name. This was the second launched in the world following Russia's Sputnik 1. It successfully traveled 58,000 miles for the next 12 years before rentering the Earth's atmosphere. It was used to measure the radiation in the atmosphere.

Communist leader Fidel Castro becomes Prime Minister of the country Cuba. Who sided with Russia in the Cold War against the United States. This was decided after Cuba noticing a lot of States in the United States deciding to with Communism.
