1929-1945

  • stock market crash.

This stock market crashed was the most devastating crash in U.S history. Billions of dollars were lost, and many lost their jobs and money due to this event. This was due to a rapid expansion in the stock markets. Then production went down and many were let go from their jobs. Panic set in in October once many had been left with no money or work. This lead to the Great depression. This was a negative impact because it caused so many hardships for so many people and was an unnecessary issue.
  • On to Ottawa trek

This event had many men who protested against these camps saying they were in bad conditions and wanted a better pay. So these men went on strike to try and achieve this goal they all wanted. After 2 month the protesters there was some recognition from the government. This was full f single men who usually worked on roads or other public work deeds. I think that this event was beneficial in a way because this had men fighting for some of their rights and positive outcomes.
  • Dust bowl

The Dust bowl happened in the 1930's. It was when severe dust storms took place in the parries. There was severe drought at that time as well. It ruined many crops and farm lands. Which left many farmers devastated. This was a negative impact because this left many farmers without money cause they couldnt grow any products as well as harsh living because of the intense dust storms.
  • The liberation of the Netherlands

This happened in the last bit of time of the second world war. It was when Canadian forces were given the task to liberate the Netherlands from Nazi occupation. They cleared it of all germans giving many who were in need of food some food. I think this was a positive even that happened because it helped many in need and we are still remembered for this important task.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

This battle was one of the first battles on the pacific. People from quebec and Winnipeg were sent and fought against the Japanese who were invading Hong Kong. The british surrendered on christmas day. some Canadians were captured and prisoned in Hong Kong. I think that this bate wasn't good because of how many people lost their lives. Not just Canadians but as well as the Japanese. Also they could have thought there plan more thoruouly because we could have not had so many Canadians captured.
  • dieppe raid

This was one of the biggest issues that the military had to face. But it also taught the military a few useful lessons for the future. This all occurred on the beaches in Dieppe. Tanks and boats came to the shore hoping for a simple and easy victory but when they got on these beaches they sunk and couldn't get there machines through the rock that was on the beaches leaving them stuck. Although this was a big tragedy it also taught the military future lessons to know what exactly they will face.
  • D day

D day was when the allied forces invaded northern France. This was during world war 2. They landed along the beaches. This was one of the largest military assaults. They had originally planned this to happen on June 5 1944 but had it delayed due to weather issues. I think that this event was necessary because this helped end Hitler and slowly some of the problems he had created.
  • Women in Canadian forces

At the beginning of the war women tried to get into more men known jobs. Finally in around the 1940's women were finally able to wok i the Canadian air forces. It also showed the men that women were just as capable of the job as men were. I think that this was a really positive thing that happened because it was a start to giving women even more rights and getting us one step closer to were we stand on sexuality and equality today.
