    Winnipeg general strike was when 30 000 people went on strike on May 1919 – June 26, 1919 in Winnipeg, Canada. Their reason for sticking was a Huge unemployment rate, poor working condition and wages, inflation. Eventually Workers returned to old jobs fearing arrest. Their wages remained the same and people who organized protests were discredited and forced to sign contracts prohibiting them from participating in union activities.

It was done when King won an election and no governor general ever again publicly refused the advice of a prime minister.

When people couldn't pay back their loans their stoves, refrigerators, and houses were repossessed making hundreds people be homeless.

Many people blamed Bennett their troubles, items like newspapers used as blankets to keep warm were dubbed "Bennett Blankets" and a car pulled by a horse was called a "Bennett buggy" because people couldn't afford to fuel the engine.

They were put in relief camps where they cleared brush and made roads and only got paid 20 cents. In 1935 1600 men boarded trains to confront PM Bennett. The leaders and the Bennett met but nothing was arranged, leaders planned to rally in the market square on July 1. prime minister Bennett ordered police to arrest the men, then this lead to a riot.
