    Jazz music become popular
    During this time period, Jazz music became increasingly popular after the first Worl War and up until the Great Depression. Many older cultures believed that jazz was threatening to older music and musical values. Musicians like Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Benny Goodman, Bessie Smith and more were the greatest jazz musicians and singers of the Jazz age. Their music helped to inspire other musicians, especially African Americans. Jazz music sent a feel of individuality and freedom to all.
  • League of Nations started

    League of Nations started
    This league was an intergovermental organization founded after the Paris Peace Conference to create a forum for solving international disputes. The League was made after World War I and was started by Woodrow Wilson. Wilson was the 28th president of the United States. He formed the League of Nations with other presidnts of Italy, Britain and France. They wanted to make sure another World War did not happen. Russia was later added to the list
  • Women gain right to vote

    Women gain right to vote
    On August 18th, 1920, women gained the right to vote. This sent widespread joy to all the women of America and a sense of equality. This proved that women can be equal with me and with power and persistence gain what they want. This movement helped women today to become even more equal with men and showed that wome are powerful and strong.
  • Penicillin was first discovered

    Penicillin was first discovered
    Penicillin is a group of antibiotics that are used to treat the ears, nose, throat, lungas and skin. It was first discovered by a Scottish biologist in the 1920's. This was important to civilization because they finally had a type of drug to help with the common cold or the flu. This antibiotic helped to save people fighting in the army and people dealing with sicknesses at home.
  • Great Depression

    Great Depression
    Deepest and longest- lasting economic downturn in the history of the Western world. The Great Depression was in the United States and it shock the market cash and wiped millions of investors clean. Money was on short supply, and consumer spending dropped. This caused a deep decline in industrial output. Unemployment levels started to rise quickly because the owner could not afford to pay for the goods to make or to pay the workers. Sometimes whole companies were laid off.
  • Jane Adams wins a Noble Prize

  • Final League of Nations disarmament

  • Third Reich

    Third Reich
    The Third Reich is also known as the Nazi party. As Hitler was brought into power by being elected Chancellor of Germany, his party rose too. The Nazi party became a regime in which the Germans enjoyed no guarantee of basic rights. Hitler was the leader of the Third Reich, and when he rose, so did his party.
