    It was stolen from the walls of the Louvre in Paris. It wasn’t found until two years later. This was a huge in France.
  • The Sinking of the Titanic

    The Titanic was a ship that no one thought it could sink until it hit an iceberg.
  • Italy returns the Mona Lisa to France

    This world famous painting that is still famous today was stolen by the country of Italy. France finally found it and it got returned back to France.
  • The first Millrose Games

    held in New York City on January 28, 1914- The Millrose Games are an annual indoor athletic meet for track and field. The first meet took place in Madison Square Garden in New york City.
  • Earthquake in Avezzano Italy

    This disaster killed 29,800 people and destroyed everything in the town. This earthquake was so violent the city of Rome even felt shaking.
  • 1st bombing of Paris

    happened on January 29, 1916 by German Zeppelins. This bombing took place during World War 1 and people call this a Strategic bombing.
  • US pays Denmark for Virgin Islands

    The treaty was approved by the Danish Lower House on August 14. The U.S. paid Denmark $25,000,000 in gold coin
  • Influenza Epidemic

    was a disease that spread all throughout the U.S.A. The first wave of it happened in 1918.
  • Molasses flood Boston, Massachusetts

    2 million gallons of molasses flood boston. From this it drowned 21 people and was very terrifying.
  • The 19th Amendment was ratified

    on April 18, 1920- this amendment let all women have the right to vote.
  • U.S. signed a Peace Treaty with Germany

    this was between the U.S. and German governments.
  • Snow on Mauna Loa, Hawaii

    on February 9, 1922- this was very surprising to all the citizens of Hawaii because, Hawaii rarely gets snow. On this day, Hawaii in fact did get snow.
  • Harry Houdini escapes Straitjacket

    Harry was dangling 40 ft off the ground. After he survived and escaped this act it became one of his signature acts.
