A group of Boston citizens attacked British troops. The troops's reaction was firing off their guns, killing five colonist. This riot was labeled as the Boston Massacre.

Gustav III becomes the King of Sweden. Previously, the throne had had a very weak ruler and Gustav III came to make a difference. He is known to many.

Papandayan Volcano in Java erupts and causes an avalanche. This dangerous event caused about 3,000 deaths. The eruption of a volcano and an avalanche aren't positive combination.

In reaction to the Townshed Acts, a group of men called the "Sons of Liberty," dressed themsleves as Mohawk Indians and boarded three Brithish ships. Once they were on the ships they dumped, in total, forty-five tons of tea into the Boston Harbor.

Louis XVI becomes King of France at age twenty. France was in bad condition at this time. Louis XVI had a lot of work on his hands at such a young age.

Nine old women were burnt for being witches. Apparentely they were causing bad harvest. Burning "witches" was a very common event during this time.

The apdotion of the document, Declaration of Independence, occured on July 4th. This freed America from Great Britain. The document has inspired freedom for many other areas.

On May 1777, the first ice cream advertisement was printed. The ad appeared in the New York Gazette by confectioner Philip Lenzi.

The liberty bell comes home to Philidelphia. The bell had been hidden under a church, in fear the that the British would melt it for ammunition during the American Revolutionary War. With the war finally over, the bell was able to be restored back in its home.

The War of Bavarian Succession comes to and end after about one year. This was a brief war between Prussia and Austria. Fortunately, there wasn't any serious fighting.
