    Captain Cook Lands at Botany Bay
    Captain James Cook, a British explorer discovered Australia on the 19th of April 1770, 9 days later on the 28th Captain Cook landed in Bottany Bay in New South Wales and set foot on Australia (or New Holland at the time) for the first time. This is marked as the beginning of white history in Australia.

    First Fleet Arrives at Botany Bay
    The First Fleet consisted of 11 ships (two warships, six convict ships and three supply ships). The journey took 8 months starting when it left the town of Portsmouth on the 13th May 1787 and arrived in Bottany Bay on January 18 1788. Living conditions on the ships were awful, they were infested with rats and cockroaches and had little light or air down where the convicts were.

    The middle and lower-class citizens of Paris stormed the Bastille prison on the 14th July 1789. The citizens stormed the prison because it was full of explosives they planned to steal. The citizens revolted because of the aristocracy, high taxes and high prices of general things such as bread. This has been remembered as the start of the French Revolution.

    On April 14th 1912 the Titanic sank just off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada on its maiden voyage. It was carrying 2223 people. The Titanic was considered 'unsinkable' and was the largest passenger liner in the world at the time. Passengers ranged from one of the richest men in the world; John Jacob Astor, to the immigrants hoping to start a new life in America. Just before midnight the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank, 1517 people died.

    On the 28th of June 1914 Archduke of Austria Franz Ferdinand and his wife are assassinated by Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip. Gavrilo was in a gang called the Black Hand who were against Austria who were dominating Bosnia at the time. This event has been seen as the start point of the first world war.

    On April 25th the Anzacs landed on a cove at gallipoli, this is Australia's most famous moment in the first world war. It showed the anzacs as the heroes they were although the mission was a complete failure.
