    Captain Cook discovers Australia
    Captain Cook lands in Botany Bay and discovers Australia. The British find Aboriginals but still claim Australia and kill many aboriginals. Convicts are sent over to establish the new colony.

    The citizens of Boston are sick of being taxed by the British and dump tea in the Harbour. The citizens also destroy the harbour. This is the start of the Americain Revolution

    Watt designs Steam Engine
    James Watt a Scotish Inventor designs a Steam Engine. Built in Briatain, starts the Industrial Revoulation and gives Britain a jead start on all other European countries.

    The Americains became an Independent country and free of British Rule. Thomas Jefferson writes the decleration of Independence. George Washington becomes the first president of the United States of America.

    Storming of the Bastille
    French rebels capture the prison of the Bastille in Paris. The prison only contained 7 prisoners who had been hand picked by King Louis XVI. Bastille day is still a French Public holiday.

    16594 prisoners are exucted by the guillotine in France. This mass killing occured because the goverment would kill anyone who was opposed to them. King Louis XVI was also executed by the guillotine.

    Napoleonic Wars
    The Napoleonic Wars were a group of wars involving the Napolean lead France between 1803 and 1815. The Napoleonic wars started when Britain broke the Treaty of Amiens and declared war on France. The Napoleonic wars ended when Napolean lost the war of the Seventh Coaltion and was exiled to Sain Helena in 1815.

    First Passenger Railway
    George Stephenson completes the first passenger railway in Britatin between Manchester and Liverpool. The trains travelled at around 30km/h. Tihs railway is affordable for all classes of people.
  • Abolition of Slavery in Britain

    Abolition of Slavery in Britain
    Slavery is abolished in the British Empire under the Slavery Aboltion Act 1833. The act also banned all trading of slaves in the Britsih Empire. The act results in 760,000 slaves being free from the West Indies, South Africa and the Mauritius.
  • Australian Gold Rush Begins

    Australian Gold Rush Begins
    Edward Hargraves discovers Gold near Bathurst. Massive gold rush starts in Australia particulary in Ballarat. Australian population triples to 1.7 million by 1871.
  • Eureka Stockade

    Eureka Stockade
    Miners in Ballarat were unhappy paying for licence to mine and burn their licences on the 30th of November. Miners also make a stockade around the mines. On Decmeber 3rd authorites attack killing 22 miners. The stockade lead to a change in laws.
  • Last Shipment

    Last Shipment
    The last shipment of British Convicts arrive in Western Australia on the 10th of Janurary 1868. The last shipment bought the total amount of convicts deported to Australia to around 162,000.

    Invention of thhe Light Bulb
    Thomas Edison invents the first practical electric light bulb on the 18th of October 1878. This makes electric lighting cheap and affordable for eveyone.
  • Ned Kelly hanged

    Ned Kelly hanged
    Ned Kelly is hanged in the Old Melbourne Gaol on the 11th of November 1880. Ned was a Victorian Bushranger and widely conmsidred to be the most famous bushranger in Australian History. Ned was ahng for numerous crimes including murder and bank robbery.

    The Dutch Boers launched an attack against the British Sout Africans in 1899 beleving that a British takeover of South Africa was inevitable. The war was caused the discovery of gold and diamonds in South Africa

    The constitution of Australia is written. All 6 states of Australia become united. The commonwealth of Australia is formed. Edmund Barton becmoes the first Prime Minister of Australia.

    Henry Ford produces his first Ford Model T. The first affordable automobile, opens up cars to the middle class. Ford is still a major producer of cars today.
  • Titanic Sinks

    Titanic Sinks
    The RMS Titanic crashes into an iceberg and sinks in the middle of the Atlantic on its maiden voyage five days after its departure from Southampton. 1,514 people die after the crash, The remaining 710 people survive and make it to New York aboard Carpathia.

    Franz Ferdinand the Archduke of Austria is assinatated by the Black Hand. The assassination led to the start of WWI, and the largest war ever seen by the world.10 million people were killed during the war and a further 20 millions people injured in combat.

    ANZACS land in Gallipoli
    ANZACS soliders land on the beaches of Gallipoli and face heavy fire from turkish soldiers but continue to fight against the odds. Australia lose the battle but win the war. Australian spirit is born on this day.
