  • Berlin Blockade

    One of the first major international crises of the cold war. Soviets blocked canal and railway access to the sectors.
  • Berlin Airlift

    While the soviets continued blocking railway, US used aircraft for military supplies.
  • Formation of NATO

    North Atlantic Treaty Organization. This states that member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party.
  • National Security Council Report NSC-68

    58 page top secret policy paper issued, by the United States National Security Council. This policy issued the decision to make containment against global communism.
  • Korean War

    This war was between the republic side of Korea ( the south) and the democratic side of korea (the north)
  • President Truman fires General MacArthur

    This was for making commands into public statements that contradicted the administration's policies.
  • Formation of the Warsaw Pact

    This was a mutal defense treaty. This involved 8 communist states.
  • Chinese Civil War (between Jiang Jieshi and Mao Zedong)

    This was a war between two countries that were close allies.
