  • 1607 - Jamestown

    Virginia Company was sent to the Americas with 3 ships and 104 colonists. James Town was named after King James to honor him and became the first permanent English colony in the Americas. English expected to find gold and silver, but they faced harsh winter conditions. They also faced disease, droughts, starvation, violence, and death. John Smith a 27-year-old mercenary, became a bold leader for James Town. But the colonist still faced hard winter and lacked food supplies.
  • 1619 - First Slaves In Americas

    A ship named white lion first arrived in James Town Virginia it had 20 black slaves on it. The slaves were captured by the Portuguese in West Africa. Overall 12.5 million slaves were captured and brought to the Americas. around 15 percent died in the transit and the majority were delivered to the Caribbean and Brazil.
  • 1628 - Massachusetts Bay Founded

    Massachusetts was a colony to was a holy wealth for the Puritans. Massachusetts Puritans believed that they were God's chosen people and they limited church members. In 1629 King Charles granted a royal charter to Massachusetts. Dieses and starvation were common but it did affect many people compared to other colonies.
  • 1634 - MaryLand

    Maryland became a neighboring settlement on the northern shore of Chaskebay. It was named in Honor of Henrieta Maria, the catholic wife of King Charles. Its has 12 Million acres of land which were granted to Sir George Calvert, Lord. Maryland struggled like Virginia, starvation, cold winters, and diseases caused hard times for the colonists. the food supply seemed to be a major problem as well as most of the colonists would die from starvation.
  • 1636 - The Pequot War

    In 1936 The settlers in Massachusetts accused a pequot of murdering a colonist. They took revenge revenge by firing up a Pequot village. The Pequot Chief organized a counterattack in which many unarmed women and children died. The Pequot Nation was dissolved.
  • 1651 - First Navigation Act

    The Navigation Acts were a set of rules passed in the 17th and 18th centuries to limit English ships to access the carrying trade in England. They worked to turn the mercantilist economic theory. The First Navigation Act was passed in 1651. This forced Colonists to trade with England only.
  • 1675 - King Philips War

    The fighting killed more than a proportion of the population than any American conflict since. the colonists launched a surprise attack and killed 300 Narragansett and 400 women. this was due to colonists attempting to convert native Indians to Christianity. In the end around five percent of the colony men died.
  • 1676 - Bacons Rebellion

    The Virginia colonists under Nathaniel Bacon carried out an armed uprising against Governor William Berkeley in 1676 referred to as Bacon's Rebellion. The decline in tobacco prices, an expanding but restricted English market, and the increasing price of English manufactured goods caused problems for the Virginians, These were every factor that contributed to Bacon's Rebellion.
  • 1681 - Pensilvania Establish

    The Society of Pennsylvania was founded by the Quaker group. The Quakers rebelled against all forms of political and religious authority. They also were against paying taxes, everyone living in their society had religious freedom and promoted equal rights. They also included women in all religious activities.
  • 1692 - Whitches in Salem

    The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. Over 300 people were accused of practicing witchcraft and 20 were killed. many belived that Witch Craft was wide spread throughout europe. In the winter of 1692 were three teen girls of accused of witch craft, which led to salem witch trails. They would give them no choice except admit to being a withch or die.
