Jamestown was claimed as the first English settlement in present-day Virginia. This area was settled by the English who came to America from England. Jamestown is named after their king, King James I.

Virginia was the first colony with slave laws. These laws consisted of 1. Slaves are property 2. Slaves are tithable 3. Slave marriage is not recognized, and children of slaves are slaves no matter the father.

The Son of the Wampanoag Leader becomes leader after his father dies and changes his name to King Phillip. The Wampanoag tribe attacks the colonists and there are battles back and forth. The colonists finally formed an army and invaded Wampanoag territory to capture King Phiilip, cut off his head, put it on a stick, and place it outside the tribal land. This was the 1st time the colonists didn't rely on Great Britain.

An uprising led by Nathaniel Bacon against the colonial government due to the Native Americans. This led Bacon and his farmer friends to burn Jamestown down. The long-term effect of this event brought more slavery into Jamestown after the smaller farmers were kicked out and plantation farmers were brought in.

A series of witchcraft trials and executions after two girls place false accusations on an Indian slave after claiming she is putting spells on them. After they figure out the two girls are not telling the truth they end the trial and there is no action towards the girls or others who convicted people.
