    The Virginia company sent to America three ships carrying 104 colonists, all men and boys. The ships arrived in 1607 to Chesapeake Bay. The colonists settled along a large river. They called the river James, and their settlement James Fort, in honor of their king. The settlement James Fort was later renamed Jamestown.

This war happened because the English Puritans expanded into Pequot territory, So the Pequot people became defensive of their land and fought.

    This war was fought by the Puritans against the Royalists. The Puritans were fighting against Charles 1, they wanted a balance between the power of the king and the parliament, however Charles 1 thought he needed to rule by "divine right", and the Royalists supported him.

    After Charles 1 was executed, Cecilius Calvert feared he might lose his colony. To avoid that he created the toleration act. This document's purpose was to welcome all Christians.The Toleration act gave people the freedom to practice their religion. This act also made disrespecting god as a punishable crime.

    King Philips War in New England

    This War was fought by local Indians fighting to keep their land from the anxious English colonial men eager to find more land. This was the first major war fought by the English colonists and the Native American Indians. The Native Americans were lead by Metacom, the main reason the war happened is because the English colonists tried to expand into the natives territory, however the immediate cause of the war was the trial and execution of three of Metacom's men by the colonists.

    This incident took place in Virginia. The armed rebellion lead by Sir Francis Bacon's was aimed towards overthrowing the colonial governor William Berkeley, who Bacon and his rebellion saw as corrupt and useless.

    English Quaker William Penn was granted over 45,000 miles of land by King Charles 2. In honor of William Penn's father he named the territory Pennsylvania.
