In May of 1607, 104 men from England landed in North America. As the first settlement, Jamestown was selected. Jamestown was named after the British king, James I. This was he first permanent English settlement in North America

In late August of 1619 about 20-30 Africans landed in Port Comfort which is modern day Virginia. These enslaved African were brought to America on an English ship called the White Lion. This shipment of enslaved landed in American about a year before the arrival of the mayflower.

The English Civil Ar begin over religious disagreements and also some political ones. Parliament wanted to limit the Kings power, but the King had a very strong belief in his own divine right. The war was a struggle for power between King Charles and the British Parliament.

The Toleration Act in Maryland ensured religious freedom to new christian settlers. Maryland became open for people of different denominations to practice freely.

The English Civil War ended with a victory for parliament. King Charles was ultimately executed on January 30, 1649, leading to the end of the Civil War.

The Salem Witch Trails were a period of mass hysteria. Prompted by the outbreak of smallpox, threats by Indians, politics, and family feuds. In the Witch Trials young women were accused of witchcraft and could either confess and go to jail, or deny the accusations and be killed.

Bacon's rebellion took place in 1676 to 1677. The rebellion was armed and led by Nathaniel Bacon. The rebellion was held against Colonial Governor William Berkeley. Berkeley did not allow Bacon drive out the Native Americans from Virginia.

This war took place in New England. The war was named after the Wampanoag chief, King Philip. Also known as the First Indian War, King Philips War was fought between the Wamponoag and the English Colonists. The main cause was the Colonists desire for more territory as well as the murder of Metacomet's brother.

King Philips War ultimately ends when King Philip is killed on Mount Hope in Rhode Island.

Pennsylvania was established on March 4, 1681 by William Penn. Pennsylvania was named after Penn's father rather than himself by the King. Pennsylvania was a colony that provided religious freedom to Quakers.

After about a year of the hysteria, everything begin to calm down. After the governor of the colony found out his wife was one of the woman accused of witchcraft, the trials were ordered to be stopped.
