  • french and indian war

this would have a negative effect on migration and settlement for a few reasons. people dont want to come to a place where active fighting is going on and its hard to convince a man to fight and die for a foreighn country. if you want more people to cross over during a war you are going to have to draft more men into your militaries. this is an important event because it takes france down a couple of notches in the colonization race
  • parlimentary acts following the 7 year war

  • revolutionary war

this had a negative effect on migration because people beleived the revolution to be an act of rebellion against the crown. they didnt see it in the eyes of the colonists whom beleieved they were fighting for there freedom they saw it as loyalists who believed these colonists simply wanted to take what was theres in britain, which basically stoped most migration. this is important because it changed the way america would deal with foreighn peoples coming into the us.
  • decleration of independence

this changed the pattern of migration to the us because ithis was simply an open decleration of rebellion against the crown, this made people not want to come to america because all the loyalists and normal people in genral at britain at the time saw this simply as an attempt to overthrow everything they made and didnt see it as an attempt of liberation which made the vast majority of people stop coming for the most part

  • new inventions

this was a big positive because when people have new things to sell people flock from the far corners of the world to see it
  • business

business is a big positve because people wanted to buy all the new stuff found in america and they would come from far and wide to do it
  • world war 1

this would be a big negative because when a war strarts paranoia sets in about foreighners and not only do people fear to come to us at that point we also fear them coming to us. this would have a dramatic decrease in migration to the us
  • great depression

this would be a big negative because when a countries stock market crashes the economical appeal has vanished completly so most people dont have a reason to come here anymore
  • world war 2

this is also a big negative because again during war times people get paranoid and even more so after pearl harbor so most people would avoid the us during the war
  • cold war
