    The French and Idian War Ends
    The French and Indian war was form 1754-1763. This war was also known as the Seven Years War. The British, French, Spanish and Russians all had parts of North America. France had extended their land to the Ohio Valley which was one of Britain’s claims. The war ended in France only having control over small islands. Even though the British had won the war they were still left with a debt that the colonies soon had to pay.

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This was one of the most major act that the Britain put on the colonist. England was in a large dept. So, they put a tax on sugar which was one of the most used goods by the colonist.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    British soldiers came to defend some other soldiers that were dealing with the colonist throwing snowballs. Soon a gun was 'accidentally' fired and three people were killed, while two died later because there were wounded. Eight men were arrested with manslaughter along with the officer in charge, Captain Thomas Preston. This was the start of the public patriot cause.

    The Tea Act and Boston Tea Party
    The Tea Act was passed in 1773. Parliament want to gain more money from the colonist. They taxed tea because it was one of the most used goods. The Boston Tea Party was a Political protest of the earlier that year tea act. On December 16th 1773 The Sons of Liberty and Samuel Adams dressed up as Indians, went aboard three ships and, dumped 342 chest of tea into the Boston Harbor.

    Intolerable Acts
    Also known as the Coercive Acts. Were series of acts that stopped the colonist from using the Boston Port, stopped Massachusetts from being a democratic town, made British soldiers immune to criminal charges, and let British soldiers into the colonist’s private homes. These acts made the colonist realize that they needed to start a fight back against the Bristish.

    The Battle if Lexington and Concod
    The 13 colonies and the British already had rising tensions for a long time. At night on April 18th British soldiers came into Boston (which was near Concord). An alarm was sounded by Paul Revere (and other). This was one step closer to independence because the British retreated after intense fire.

    In mid-June Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and two other men were assigned in writing a letter saying that the colonies wanted to break away from England. On July 4th Thomas Jefferson wrote and this date is normally known as the birth of America's independence.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the Revolution. General John Burgoyne won a small victory over the Americans whose leader was Haratio Gates. Soon he decided to attack them again even though his army had weakened. The Americans defeat Burgoyne and forced him to retreat after he attacked them again at Bemis Heights. He then officially surrendered ten days later. That was the first time that the Americans thought that they could win the war against the British

    Revolutionary War Ends
    The Revolutionary war happened between April 19th 1775-September 3rd 1783. The war is also known as the American Revolution was when conflict was on a high between the Americans and the British. Many wars happened in between these 8 years including the battle of Lexington and Concord, the Battle of Trenton, the Battle of Saratoga and the battle of Yorktown. In 1781 the Continental Army forced the British to surrender at Yorktown, Virginia but the wars officially ended in 1783.

    Treaty Of Paris
    This treaty was conferred between Great Britain and the United States. The Treaty ended the revolutionary war and started America’s official independence against Britain.
