Life started to improve but then progress kept diminishing. He did get land but then there was the slave law to not buy slaves of christian religion and Anthony had land that needed to be taken care of.

It was prohibited by law for an African American to buy a slave that is christian. Most africans could not buy slaves because most of the slaves had been baptized before this time to evade ActIII.

All negroes are to be considered to be real estate. The english- men did not consider the Africans to be actual people. They were like the houses that they lived in.
