Age One

  • Physical Developmental Milestones

    Stands holding furniture, stands alone for a second or two, then collapses with a bump. Walks holding one hand. Bends down and picks up objects. Pulls to stand and sits deliberately. May walk alone. Holds spoon. Points at objects, and picks up small objects.
  • Self- feeding

    The parent holds the spoonful of food and when baby grabs the spoon, mom or dad continues to hold on and helps baby guide the spoon into her mouth. After a bit of target practice, the little hunter will actually get most of his catch into his mouth.
  • Emotional Development

    You can help determine how your child learns to express and manage his feelings. A few ways include: Be sensitive to her needs, Soothe him when he's distressed, Consider your child's individual temperament, Get plenty of "face time" with your baby, and recognize when she's had enough.
  • Social Patterns

    Young children gradually learn how to get along with other people. They first learn how to get along with members of the families and then with people in other groups. This is called socialization. through this process children can be expected to learn various social skills by certain ages.

    They begin to put two words together- names common objects and people- Understands "no" but ignores- Finds hidden objects.
