He was a huge part in getting Mexico's independence and fought against Spain who was trying to regain control of Mexico. He was elected 4 times by 1855 and led the Mexican army into Texas to try and regain it. -

Mexico gave Americans Texas but they had to follow their rules but the Americans wanted a greater self-government but the Mexican would not let them so the war started. -
Benito Juarez
He was a native man who rose step by step until he became governor in 1847. He stared La Reforma which the 3 rules were, Everyone gets paid enough to supply for their family, education, and re-distribution of land. This meant the end of the caudillos. -
French occupation of Mexico
French invade due to that La Reforma was expensive and many could not repay the debts so French come in with Archduke Maximllien and he declares himself ruler. -
Porfiorio Diaz
Diaz was also a Indian like Juarez. He overthrew Juarez and became President where his motto was "Order and Progress". He was good to everyone who supported him and was bad to whome didm't support him. -
Caranza
Wanted to overthrow Huerta. He took control of the government. He ended the civil war by trapping Zapata and killing him. -
Obregon
Was a general of Caranza but overthrew him. He distributed land, bettered education, taught spanish, and wanted nationalism.
