    Andrew was born March 15, 1767 and died June 8, 1845. Andrew killed a man in deul. He had a pistol named old. He was the 7th president, term was 1829-1837. He got married to Rachel Jackson. Andrew had immigrant parents. He studied to be a lawer in North Carolina. Andrew raised two children, none of his own. The capitol of Mississippi was named after him. His daughter named James Polk. His first problem as president was to remove all Indians.

    Louisiana Purchase
    The purchase gained 827,000 square miles. It stretched from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississppi River. The French gained it from the Spanish. The United States paid $11,250,000 for the land. The money was three cents and acre. Nine years later the first state was developed.
  • California Gold Rush

    California Gold Rush
    The California Gold Rush started January 24, 1848. The gold rush went to 1858. The discovery of gold nuggets in Sacromento started the gold rush. James W. Marshall discovered the gold nugget in the American River. He saw a shiny thing in the water. Throughout 1849 people borrowed money, mostly men. The 49ers had a difficult and long journey in the late 1840s to prospect at Sutter's Fort.
