After the split Norht Caralina was more for small farms and South Carolina was more for plantations and the plantations grew and they ran short of people to work them so they started getting slaves from Africa.

    In the 1740s a 17 year old girl named Eliza Lucas (the daughter of a planter). She experimented with growing indigo seeds and from that she created blue dye and in 1743 she created more dye and passed it around to the people around her. South Carolina started selling it.
