1.2 Act Timeline

  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War

    This was the end of the 7 years war. Colonists (especially in the southern colonies) were enraged by land disputes, axes, and the need for British soldiers in the area as well.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act

    Although the price of export Of sugar was reduced to 3 cents per gallon, the tax of sugar was now strictly enforced compared to before, this was put in place to reduce smuggling. Colonists didn’t like the fact that this act was appealed so they protested in its accord.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act

    This was a ploy by the British government to purely make money, this required all paper to be produced on stamped paper. This enraged the colonist and brought the first true rebellion by bringing a group to form against the British along with boycotting.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act

    This was the repeal of the stamp act that was just recently enforced by the British. This mad the colonist very happy and glad to see the repeal.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act

    This was an act that simply raked goods that were imported to the American colonies. This once again really angered the colonist, they boycotted goods, women also got invoked and the “Daughters of Anarchy” made clothes for American colonists.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act

    This was an act that was passed in order for cheap tea to be exported to the American colonists. Americans were mad due to smuggling process and overall the moral principle of the act. They responded with the Boston tea party.
  • Revolutionary War

    Revolutionary War

    A war initiated by the delegates of America for independence, Americans were enraged by the treatment from the British. Americans were happy and determined to win independence. However not all colonist were completely sold on the war.
