    The Chou Dynasty developed weapons, armament and chariots. During the Chou Dynasty the use of iron was introduced to China. They also invented the engineering technology for irrigation, drainage, waterways, canals, dikes and dams. They also developed music by pipes and bells.

    The last Chou Ruler was overthrown which led to the first centralized empire in Chinese history under King Cheng (259-210 BC). He became known as the "fist sovereign emperor".

    The majority of woman who belonged to peasant class, would have been expected to work on the fields. Now, woman who belonged to wealthy families would of helped their husbands in their businesses and was often the case in pre-industrial societies.
    Children that were peasants would be expected to help out in the fields as soon as they were old enough, and the children of wealthy families were sent to great schools, or would of been tutored at home.

    The Chou emperors paid much attention to etiquette. In sacrificial ceremonies and funerals, wedding ceremonies and other important events, there were strict reguations for the people to abide by. They were not allowed to get drunk because it was against there culture.

    The zhou dynasty established a feudal system of government. This means that the people were divided into sections. the king would give land to the nobles, and the than the nobles woulf farm the land and pay the king. than the nobles provided millitary suppor and to the officials. The officials collected taxes. Than there were the peasants/farmers whom farmed the land, and gave most to their masters, they were also required to help build works, and the end of the chart were the slaves!

    The Chou Dynasty lasted over 800 years. It was the Dynasty that lasted the longest than any other one in the Chinease History. Wu Wang defeated the Shang Dynasty and established the Zhou Dynasty. He was the most Influential leader of the Chou Dynasty. The original name of Wu Wang was Chi Fa, Several years after the Shang conquest, Wu wang died in 1116 B.C.

    The Chou Dynasty society was based on agricultural production. The land of the lords was divided among the peasants to grow crops. They were divided up into three squares, with the eight outer squares being worked on by the peaseants.
